Introduction to the cast of Coffee with a side of You

Introduction to the cast of Coffee with a side of You

Hey, Beloved!

It’s that time again! New book and new characters to fall in love with!

‘Coffee with a side of You’ has not only interesting main characters but an amazing cast of supporting characters as well!

Let’s start with our potential couple!

Rocco Tate & Nyx Fifer

Rocco Tate is a Real Estate Developer who has one goal – to finish building his entertainment district in one year. Rocco is confident. Almost cocky but with good reason. He’s extremely passionate and intense. Forceful. Determined – he lets nothing stand in his way of getting what he wants; and he always gets what he wants. Rocco dislikes shallow people and relationships of any kind, playing games and people who aren’t open. Although Rocco is a great catch and one of his city’s most eligible bachelors, he has a bad habit of breaking things off with women before the six month mark.

Nyx Fifer is the current manager of the family owned coffee shop Fifer’s Coffee. Her main goal is putting the pieces of her life back together after the relationship she thought would lead to marriage ended. Not only did Glenn, her ex, leave her heartbroken, but he also left her pockets empty. Nyx is a bit of a mesh pot of characteristics. She’s strong willed and outspoken at times, and at others… she’s shy, gentle and reserved. Nyx is a sensual, soulful spirit who easily draws both men and women in, and then there are periods of time where she closes herself off from the world completely. With one failed relationship trailing closely behind her, Nyx has absolutely no desire to wrestle with love again.

Here’s the secret recipe to their success – they balance each other out. What one lacks the other fills. They connect on a soulful level that they have never experienced with anyone else.

Here’s the potential deal breaker – they annoy the crap out of each other! The things that balance them out are also the things they can’t stand. For someone as open and intense and emotional as Rocco, it drives him crazy to be with a woman as detached as Nyx. For someone as grounded and minimal as Nyx, it drives her crazy to be with a man as proud and greedy as Rocco. Greedy… for all things – her included.

Of course, there is the whole thing of Rocco wanting to take Nyx’s family business, but hey? What’s wrong with a little business competition?

Meet me here Friday and I’ll introduce you to the supporting characters that I’m honestly even more excited about! 🙂

Until next time… oh wait!

If You Ever Change Your Mind – Now Available

If You Ever Change Your Mind – Now Available

Hey, Beloved!

My next release is now available!

Here’s the synopsis –

Lucas Berry has never been the type to take the traditional route with anything in his life. Even when he considers it, life throws him a curveball that causes him to take an entirely different path. The last curveball, a pregnant friend with benefits, caused Lucas to make an illegal move that led to his sister, Luana, being bound to Jaxon Jeffries. At first meeting Jaxon, Lucas considers him to be a man that will never be worthy of his respect and admiration, but there is one thing that Jaxon shares with Lucas that changes his life forever – the importance of choosing a wife instead of letting something as reckless and irrational as love choose one for you.

Hali Davison has never been the type to step out of the traditional route with anything in her life. Even when she considers it, life throws her a curveball that causes her to return to the safe, predictable path she grew up on. The last curveball, finding out the man she’s loved all of her life practically was getting married to a woman that wasn’t her, has Hali reconsidering her safe and predictable lifestyle. If her last chance at letting Lucas know how she really feels for him is at his wedding… so be it.

Lucas is stuck between doing the right thing and following his heart. His childhood has made it difficult for him to believe that true love exists, which is a great deal of the reason why he’s fought his feelings for Hali over the years.

With his natural hair product line reaching heights he never thought were possible, Lucas is determined to secure his life mate now before his money, power and status make it impossible to choose a woman who wants him for him and not who he is and what he has. There’s just one question he’s faced with on the day of his wedding; is that woman Shanice, the woman responsible for giving him his first child, or Hali, the woman responsible for giving him his first taste of love – no matter how much he thought he didn’t want it.

*Please note, Lucas and Hali first appear in “Just Say You Love Me”. While their story can be read on its own, it is suggested that you read about their backgrounds in “Just Say You Love Me” first.

Introducing… the cast of Just Say You Love Me

Introducing… the cast of Just Say You Love Me

Hey, Beloved!

Welcome back 🙂

Monday you got a little more acquainted with me; now it’s time to meet my next set of characters!

Enter…

Jaxon Jeffries and Luana Berry

Jaxon Jeffries is a 31 year old mayoral hopeful. His main priority right now is to become the Mayor of Memphis, and he’s willing to do just about anything to make that happen – including taking on a temporary wife.

Luana Berry is a 25 year old senior in college. All she’s had for most of her life to rely on is her brother, Lucas, and for the most part she’s been okay with that. When Lucas needs her help, Luana’s natural reaction is to do all she can to help her brother – even if that means being Jaxon’s temporary wife.

When Jaxon and Luana first meet they put up no effort to deny their attraction to each other, but neither of them have any plans of being in a real relationship any time soon. After they are forced into their fake relationship Luana’s attraction for Jaxon quickly turns into disdain while Jaxon’s attraction for Luana deepens. Even still, he refuses to allow love or anything else to pull his focus from his campaign.

As they force themselves to show each other love, they begin to realize their true feelings for each other. Neither of the two deny them, but neither of them want to be inconvenienced by love either.

So, by the end of their journey together it becomes a matter of priority. A matter of trust. A matter of vulnerability. A matter of simply saying, “I love you, and I want to be with you.” A simple statement indeed, but for two people who have sworn off love for the time being that statement is buried deep in the recesses of their hearts and minds – having no intentions of erupting. Ever. Even if their newfound love is on the line.

Synopsis –

Luana Berry’s plate is full. Not only is she juggling two jobs and an internship, but she’s doing so while maintaining a 3.8 GPA at the most expensive private school in Memphis, TN. Just a few months away from being the first college graduate in her family, Luana plans to continue her education and become a Lawyer. There’s just one thing standing in the way of her dreams – her brother, Lucas Berry.

Jaxon Jeffries’ plate is full. Not only does he have his own investment firm, but he’s also on the city council and running for mayor. When his parents suggest that he take a wife to soften his image and show his loving, compassionate side to voters, Jaxon is against it – until he saves Lucas Berry in exchange for the chance to have his sister Luana.

With Lucas being the reason Luana had the opportunity to even attend college, she feels obligated to help her brother during his time of need. So much so that when the choice is his freedom or her singleness she agrees to stand by Jaxon’s side as his wife.

Jaxon and Luana have one goal – to prove to the world that they love each other before election day. Neither desire real love, especially from each other, but the more time they spend together the more they realize love is no respecter of persons, time, deals and enemies made, or hearts that intend to be saved.

Prepare to watch these two fight themselves and their feelings 8.1.17 ❤

This… is a good goodbye.

This… is a good goodbye.

Today is bittersweet. Usually, more bitter than sweet. Today, more sweet than bitter. Today, I released a book. A finale to a series. It wasn’t just a finale to a series; it was a finale to B. Love, Master storyteller who specializes in African American romance and urban love stories.

Now before you go to panicking let me remind you that although this was a good thing coming to an end it is also the dawn of a new era.

See, I’ve come to the conclusion that… if you don’t exercise your freedom and independence it’s almost as if you don’t have them. I’m coming up on year two of being a published author, and there were still a lot of things that I was doing that I didn’t want to, and a lot of things that I wasn’t doing that I wanted to because of my attempt to fit into genres and lanes that weren’t created for me.

It doesn’t matter how much you try to conform and fit into something… if you don’t fit… you won’t fit. I, like a lot of creatives, were created to stand out. One of the most detrimental things you can do as a creative is stifle your creativity because of genres, platforms, or fear of not being understood or accepted.

I wasn’t choosing to do these things. I just… was. You’re given a formula for success and you stick to it, right?

Not anymore.

Come August, I’m defining my own formula for success. All I can say right now is that B. Love 2.0 is on a whole other level compared to B. Love, Master storyteller who specializes in African American romance and urban love stories. I have SO much up my sleeve, and I cannot wait to share them with you all!

Until then,

We say goodbye to I’ll Give You Mine. Read and enjoy!

Synopsis –

“My parents raised me to be a King. It’s not their fault I turned out to be a hoodlum.” – Giovanni “Grim” Re

For Grim, even his name spoke of the constant battle that warred within him on a daily basis. His government name, Giovanni Re, was chosen specifically by his father. He wanted Grim’s first name to remind him that he was favored by God while his last name meant King. His nickname, Grim, stemmed from his past of being somewhat of a grim reaper towards his enemies. For a great deal of his life, Grim struggled with his good heart and evil mind, unsure of if he’d ever have a peaceful relief… until Havana.

Havana Brooks has always been soft spoken and quiet natured. In her relationships that led to her being taken advantage of. In her career that led to her music being shelved while she watched her label mates gain the stardom she dreamed of having. There was a good thing about being so nice and sweet, though. It allowed her to be peace for Grim.

As friends, Havana settles Grim and he builds her up. She nurtures him while he gives her a voice. He strengthens her while she weakens him. For those around them, Grim and Havana are a match made in heaven, but these two will have to go through hell to be with each other.

*I’ll Give You Mine is the spinoff for If You Give Me Yours. Although both stories can be read as standalones, it is recommended that you read If You Give Me Yours First. This book does contain explicit language and an urban setting. If either of these things go against your personal preference, please skip this book on your journey for literary entertainment.*

Hey, beloveds!

My latest release is now available on Amazon! This one is for book and music lovers alike…

Synopsis –

Sulu Kano wasn’t a rapper who made gangster music; he was a gangster who rapped. With time and maturity, his desire to glorify a life he no longer lived or believed in began to fade. Wanting to use his power and platform for good instead of evil, Sulu sets out to become the voice of his people. There’s just one person standing in the way of his change… his manager – Silas.

Maisyn Young left Memphis almost ten years ago because her parents believed that was the only way she would survive. Between parents who struggled to make ends meet and bad influences, Chicago quickly became Maisyn’s safe haven and place of rebirth. Even still, she finds herself returning to Memphis for the M-Town Sounds talent competition. With a desire to fulfill her dreams and provide for her family, Maisyn is willing to do whatever it takes to make it big. There’s just one person standing in the way of her dreams… her new manager’s daughter – Conoshia.

Both Sulu and Maisyn have admired each other from afar, so when they find themselves in the same city and on the same record label it seems as if fate is the DJ for their musical and romantic collaboration. Their past ties and ex partners aren’t thrilled to see the two join forces out of fear that their love and music will take them to heights old lovers are too low to reach. With envy, secrets, and betrayal following Sulu and Maisyn at every turn they are left with one question; is love worth risking the success they’ve gained… or does that success mean nothing without each other?

*This is a fast paced instalove story where the characters experience love at first sight. “If You Give Me Yours” is book one of a two-part urban series. Although both books can be read as standalones the characters do overlap in each book. If either of these things go against your personal preference, please skip this novel on your search for literary entertainment.*

Synopsis –

Oscar and Selena Medina gave birth to four beautiful baby girls – Fury, Blaze, Arsen, and Red. Because of Oscar’s business, the girls grew up close and tough. As time progressed, the girls grew into women and their bond wavered. When Oscar goes missing the sisters reunite, and their already fragile bond completely unravels or ties into an infinity knot that not even death can pull loose.
As the oldest sister and leader, Fury has taken on the burden of finding their father. Her biggest adversary? Her mother. It seems strange to Fury that Selena so quickly and willingly gives up the search for her father, but she has a bigger battle to face – her heart. Her past. Her rekindled feelings for her childhood best friend and first love – Wade Lamar.
Blaze couldn’t care less either way about her father returning home alive. In her mind, all of her family let her down when she needed them most. Now that they need her, Blaze has no desire to help them find Oscar or grieve for him in his absence. All she cares about is herself and her business; until she meets Maddox Reyes.
Although Arsen isn’t the youngest of the sisters, she looks and acts the part. Her quiet and distant innocence has driven an even bigger wedge between her and her sisters. As if dealing with the disappearance of her father isn’t enough, Arsen has gotten herself into a bit of a sticky situation with her best friend, Morgan. She’s so embarrassed that she can’t even go to her big sisters for help. To her benefit, that help comes from Knox Hearst.
As the baby of the family, Red is used to being spoiled, coddled, and getting anything she wants. When she leaves for college and gets her first taste of independence she finds herself stressed beyond measure. Between trying to master five classes and work two jobs, Red is right at the brink of a meltdown that her family knows nothing about – until Nicholas Black comes to her aid with an offer she can’t refuse.
In The Ashes, these sisters are dealing with not only their own personal demons and issues, but they are also dealing with their father missing, secrets coming to the surface, and betrayal from those they least expected. At the end of their weary days all they have is each other… but with so much tension and distance between them… will that be enough?
The Ashes: The Medina Sisters’ Story is a 147,000-word novel with explicit language and some instances of instalove or love at first sight. If either of these aren’t your preference please skip The Ashes as an option for your reading pleasure.

Sneak peek –

“This,” Selena’s cracked voice whispered into the microphone. She clutched the black Guess glasses case tighter in her hands while her eyes closed, “This is heavier than any casket since this is all that I have left of my husband.”

Fury’s eyes lowered to the case in her mother’s hands.

“I knew that this was Smokey’s because of the red strip of paint on the side,” her quivering lips smiled as tears flooded and fled her eyes, “And this is all that was found here outside of his car when Smokey went missing. It’s been six weeks… the hardest six weeks of me and my daughters’ lives. We don’t want to give up on Smokey, but I decided to have this memorial because we need to heal. We need to be at peace. We need to let him go and continue to live.”

“This is some bullshit,” Fury mumbled under her breath.

She stood and walked briskly out of the room. Fury hadn’t even made it outside good before she was pulling her marijuana filled blunt from out of her purse along with her lighter. Trembling fingers and nerves made it difficult for her to light the blunt, but her trembling wasn’t from sadness like her mothers was over her father’s disappearance. Her trembling came from anger. Anger at the fact that her mother had called off the search for her father, Oscar, and was accepting the fact that he was dead without having any proof. Fury was the only person that believed Oscar was still alive somewhere, and the weight of having to search for her father on her own was beginning to slowly take a toll on her.

After flicking the metal spark wheel of her lighter for the third time and not being able to catch a flame, Fury cursed under her breath again as she lifted her arm in preparation to throw the lighter. An arm circled around her. Its hand, bigger and a tad darker than hers, covered Fury’s hand and kept her from throwing the lighter. The hand tightened its grip around hers, and even though she couldn’t see his face she knew who the hand belonged to.

Fury could never forget that hand.

She would never forget the long scar on the palm of it.

Or his long fingers.

Or his chewed nails.

Or his smooth skin.

She may not have seen or felt those hands in twelve years, but she’d never forgotten them.

Or how he got that scar in the first place.

If Fury was the typical emotional woman or one of her sister’s tears might’ve escaped her, but they wouldn’t. Not in front of him anyway.

Her exhale came out hard and loud as Wade lifted his hand and took the lighter from hers. Fury put the blunt between her lips and closed her eyes as Wade walked around her. She wasn’t ready to see his face yet. Not the face of the only man she’d ever wanted and had never been able to have. The only man who’d ever broken her heart and rejected all she had to offer. Okay, so she was only fourteen when he left so she didn’t really have much to offer, but her love should’ve been enough.

Wade effortlessly sparked a fire and lit Fury’s blunt. She puffed it twice before removing it from her lips and opening her eyes.

This wasn’t the eighteen-year-old scrawny young man that left her years ago. This was a tall, muscular, fully grown man. Wade’s syrup brown skin had Fury wondering if it tasted as sweet as its rich smooth color looked. His square face and strong jaw made him look manly. The short box beard made him look rugged. But his high cheek bones, oval tight eyes, and round brown lips made him look beautiful.

“I figured you wanted to be alone,” Wade started, causing Fury’s eyes to clamp shut. His gruff voice had deepened over the years, “But I just… wanted to check on you, Pikachu.”

She couldn’t resist chuckling as her eyes opened. Fury hadn’t heard that nickname in years, and although hearing it now made her heart skip a beat, it also made it churn.

“I’m fine,” startled by the hoarse sound of her own voice, Fury cleared her throat before continuing. She hadn’t spoken to anyone, including herself, in the past three days that she’d been locked inside of her condo, “What are you doing here, Wade?”

“Paying my…”

“He’s not dead. Missing… yes, but Smokey isn’t dead.”

Wade nodded and placed his hands inside of his pockets as Fury took another pull of her blunt.

“Thought I made you promise me you’d quit smoking when I left?”

“Thought I made you promise to keep in touch when you left?”

The hint of a smile that had been on the corners of Wade’s mouth fell. His shoulders caved. Eyes lowered.

Hope you read and enjoy!

It’s time to celebrate!

It’s time to celebrate!

YayMe

Can we take a moment to celebrate the fact that I just completed the longest novel of my career? Okay, so the goal was 160,000 words, but I hit just a little under 140,000. The old me would be sad because I didn’t hit my goal, however, the new me is like, “Girl, you wrote AND edited 100,000 words in 10 days. Get yo life!”

That’s how we do sometimes. We don’t appreciate the victories, but we magnify the failures or shortcomings. Not this time!

I’m proud of myself!

It’s time to freaking celebrate!

My book, The Ashes: The Medina Sisters’ Story will be released tomorrow 6/1/17. I’m going to drop the synopsis on this blog, and if it leaves you wanting more there’s going to be a sneak peek on my Facebook Author page tonight at 7pm CST.
